Sebastian Zier is head chef of the 2 Michelin starred restaurant La Mer, at the five-star superior resort A-ROSA Sylt. His talent deems him among the best culinary masters, not only in Germany but throughout the world.
He discovered his passion for the culinary arts after his apprenticeship as a hotel specialist. Following different destinations in Southern Germany and Austria like the Hotel Traube Tonbach and Hotel Schloss Velden, he took over the Restaurant La Mer at the A-ROSA Sylt resort in April 2010. After only 10 months as head chef, Sebastian Zier gained his first Michelin star and 8 months later the second star followed.
Together with his team he creates unique and innovative delicacies from fish, seafood and regional specialties. La Mer is known for finesse and perfection in both service and food quality, as well as an extensive wine list, which make every visit an unforgettable experience.

How did you feel when you were awarded your first Michelin star?
It was an amazing feeling: pure joy! I was really proud of my team and thankful for the people who gave me the chance to get this far.
What is your greatest inspiration?
I get my inspiration from discussions with my team. What seems to be a crazy idea in the beginning might finally end up on the menu.
What three things would you take to a desert island?
A book with the title “How to build a raft”; amobile phone – if the raft-building is not successful; asurvival kit from the German Federal Armed Forces.
