Old fashioned formality is a thing of the past in the Black Forest. A chic, urban dining experience – Fritz & Felix – is set to open in collaboration with bright young Swiss chef Nenad Mlinarevic, bringing a fresh attitude to dining experiences.
The stylish new addition to Brenners Park-Hotel & Spa, Fritz & Felix will offer a destination restaurant and bar for hotel guests and local residents alike. Inspired by the nature, history and culture of the Black Forest with a throwback to the glamour of the 1920s. The style will be sophisticated yet refined and informal – creating a fun, social atmosphere.
Nenad Mlinarevic is the man behind the menu. Considered the most exciting upcoming young chef on the German and Swiss culinary scene, his appeal will target a younger audience looking to sample novel food experiences around the world.
Sebastian Mattis meanwhile, will take on the role as Chef de cuisine. He will take up the challenge of combining regionalism with round-the-world influences in Fritz & Felix. His credo is: professionalism, creativity and the highest specialist standards can be wonderfully arranged with a relaxed approach and a modern sharing style.
Interiors are the work of Robert Angell – whose work includes the Blue Bar at the Berkeley and the American Bar at the Savoy – as well as London based Gorgeous Group. Together they have created a distinctive interior with inspiration taken from the hotel’s spectacular Black Forest setting – its enchanting scenery as well as historic culture. The new design will embrace the emotional connection that many have with the hotel and local area and it will look back at Baden Baden’s glamorous past whilst creating a new luxurious yet accessible future.
On the menu, expect simple dishes with seasonal small plates, sharing plates for the table and specialities from the grill. Food will be locally sourced and oriental towards the seasons, with priority given to fresh fruit and vegetables.
The 1920s café society inspired interiors will evoke a relaxed but luxuriant feel, and many features will be a tribute to this ‘golden era’ when automobile clubs and high society came together at Brenners Park. Think a club-like atmosphere designed for relaxing and of course, indulging.
