The newest resident of Amsterdam’s Houthaven neighborhood, hotel BOAT&CO located on the waterfront, has opened its doors, welcoming its very first guests to their new ‘home away from home’.

BOAT&CO combines the freedom of a home with a designer interior and the comfort of hotel service. Whether a waterside suite with views over the IJ or a cosy studio; all rooms feature a fully equipped kitchen and comfortable areas to work, eat or relax. Just like home. But at BOAT&CO, that home comes with a wellness on the ground floor, a separate restaurant and housekeeping. .Home sweet hotel.

As a newfangled Amsterdammer, BOAT&CO turns 82 rooms into 82 chances to explore her city. Every single day. From one of the One-Bedroom Apartments – perfect for a manager settling in the Dutch capital for multiple months. From the Waterfront Penthouse – ideal for a couple that wants to ignore their overflowing calendars for just a couple of days. In the Two-Bedroom Apartment – foolproof for families exploring new parts of the world. Or for that groups of friends that want to see as many bars and restaurants in just a weekend.

Guests and locals blend together effortlessly in the atrium of the hotel. Restaurant Vessel and its bar lure them into BOAT&CO all day. To work for a bit, to enjoy the wellness and work out in the gym, to sip a cocktail or to order one of the all-day international dishes. Chef Ricardo van Ede and his team created a menu that makes simply delicious just a tad more responsible. Without unnecessary health fuzz. This way, the menu is filled with dishes like spelt flatbread with mushroom stew, sweet potato pancakes with blueberries and thyme honey, and pizza with Dutch buffalo mozzarella and basil. In 2020, another restaurant with a terrace will open on the waterside with a view on the IJ.

With a true local like City ID as its founder, BOAT&CO immerses with its surroundings. And that’s about more than just bringing something new that suits the area; it’s being part of the neighborhood with the knowledge to match. Where do you find the best local suppliers? What are the restaurants you don’t want to miss out on? Where do you find hidden shopping streets? The neighbors know the answers. And the team of BOAT&CO is more than happy to share those answers with travelers from across the globe.

As the Houthaven area is a place of innovation, the neighborhood runs fully sustainable and CO2-neutral. And so will BOAT&CO. But while the hotel will be close to self-sufficient, it feels far from futuristic. Martin Brudnizki (known for his designs for Four Seasons, Soho House Group, Nobu and Rosewood hotels, among others) thought-up this warm interior with a whiff of the Amsterdam of the 1950s. Rich materials blend with earthy colors, while the architectural design by Kollhoff & Pols is loosely based on the iconic style of the Amsterdamse School. Large brick facades are combined with striking bay windows, while steel dormer windows reinvent the characteristic of an architectural movement. Through these elements, both interior as exterior blend local history into the designs of the hotel.

BOAT&CO combines freedom, comfort and service so you’ll be left with just one single question: Can I stay a little longer? Book your room at BOAT&CO now.
