On the evening of Monday 27th February, Executive Chef Franckelie Laloum of one Michelin-starred Loiuse will host an exclusive charity dinner alongside six other chefs from Hong Kong to help with ongoing rescue efforts in Turkey and Syria. Following the devastating earthquakes that struck southern and central Turkey and northwestern Syria earlier this month, the death toll continues to rise and affected communities are in urgent need of aid.
100% of proceeds from the evening will go towards AFAD association, a Disaster and Emergency Management Authority that coordinates with Turkey’s response to a number of devastating earthquakes and floods, and helps survivors get their lives back on track. At an international level, AFAD has completed successful missions to provide humanitarian assistance to over 50 countries in five continents including Somalia, Palestine, Ecuador, Philippines, Nepal, Yemen, Mozambique, and Chad.

“On 6th of February series of devastating earthquakes hit Kahramanmaraş, Turkey, causing destruction in 10 provinces in the region and affecting millions. We are confident that Turkey will overcome this disaster. We are determined to provide safe and comfortable shelter and temporary housing to the millions affected from the earthquakes as soon as possible. Our target is to build new homes and new cities with the highest standards within one year. We are grateful to the Hong Kong people. From the very beginning, they offered their messages of sympathy with us and offered their helping hands without hesitation. On this occasion I would like to sincerely thank Chef Franckelie Laloum of the Louise for initiating and hosting this fundraiser event. I also wholeheartedly thank each and every one of the famous Chefs who are participating in this fundraiser and the other sponsors. Needless to say, the funds raised at this event will help alleviate the pain of those who are most affected by the earthquakes.” said Peyami Kalyoncu, Consul General of Turkey in Hong Kong
“My heart sank when I heard the news about Turkey and Syria. I spent a few years working in Turkey, and it is a beautiful country that is very close to my heart. No matter where you are in the world, there’s always a way to help,” says Chef Franckelie Laloum. “I am grateful for my friends who came together last minute to prepare this exceptional menu, and to cook together for an urgent cause.”
