This September Madrid will become home to the new Spanish outpost of the highly successful Benares restaurant.
Atul Kochar, the first Indian chef to receive a Michelin star in the world, will introduce his fine fair in a step to place Madrid as the gastronomic capital of Southern Europe.
The style of the new restaurant will follow the same successful recipe of his original Mayfair venue, with a uniquedécor and a menu that comprises of Indian cuisine and local products. In Madrid’s case, it will combine high-quality local ingredients with the traditional techniques of Indian cooking.
His unique and innovative style within the Indian cuisine is known on an International scale, so would be a fitting candidate for Madrid’s attempt to have a greater International culinary scene that embraces different cuisines.The team in Madrid will be formed by Vincente Gorriz, General Manager of the restaurant; Antonio Lima, Front of House and Juan Belmonte, Sommelier, and will be located on Calle Zurbano, considered by some to be one of the best streets in Madrid.
With the addition of a show cooking space, an exclusive chef’s table and an outdoor terrace space, the new Benares spin-off will no doubt feel right at home in the sizzling hot Spanishcapital.
