Restaurant Tantris – the gourmet temple whose architecture is reminiscent of a modern church – celebrated its 40th anniversary in 2011, having opened its doors on 2 December 1971.
Tantris was at the start of a new era in gastronomy. As early as 1973, the Michelin Guide awarded its first star to Tantris and the head chef at the time, Eckart Witzigmann. The second star followed a year later. Since then, the stars have been twinkling at Tantris without interruption. No other restaurant in Germany has had the accolade of such a long period with two or three Michelin stars to its name. For more than twenty years, the style of food at Tantris has been influenced by Hans Haas, a man who has been characterised as ‘the master of simplicity’.
What is it that makes this place so special? An atmosphere that creates magical moments. Once considered avant-garde and now with cult status, Tantris is a restaurant that inspires all the senses. There is nowhere else quite as different. Felix Eichbauer has now taken over the family tradition, ensuring that guests at Tantris continue to experience an unforgettable evening.
