Chef patron of The Waterside Inn in Bray, Berkshire, he is the son of Michel Roux and cousin of Michel Roux Jr, of Le Gavroche. Alain spent eight years in France training to be a chef, including stays atRestaurant Pic, Le Domaine d’Orvault, La Bonne Etape, Château de Montreuil and La Côte Saint-Jacques. Alain also served for the French military as a chef at the Élysée Palace. In 1992, the young Roux moved back to Bray to work at the family’s Waterside Inn restaurant, where he became a demi-chef de partie. Alain took over as chef patron from his father in 2002.
