Nottingham-born Andrew McLeish gained his Chef’s Diploma at Clarendon College of Further Education. He is the executive chef and director of Chapter One in Kent, combining European flavours with local and seasonal ingredients, where he earned a Michelin star and four AA Rosettes along the way.
His career has taken him from a small restaurant, the Warrener, in Bray to working with legendary chef Nico Ladenis at Simply Nico before transferring to the fine dining restaurant, Chez Nico as Chef de Partie. In 1993 Chef McLeish moved to iconic Hotel The Ritz as Sous Chef. His role at the prestigious five star London hotel included a two month term in Tokyo heading up Afternoon Tea for up to 160 guests per day.
On returning to London, McLeish became the Head Chef at The Dining Room in the Landmark Hotel, where he gained three rosettes in his first year.
McLeish was headhunted to become the executive chef and director at Chapter in 2000.Since Andy’s arrival at Chapter One, the restaurant has gone from strength to strength winning a number of awards. The restaurant’s seasonal menus, which are teamed with its fine-dining experience are highly acclaimed and reflect its Executive Chef’s culinary creativity and exquisite technique.
