In 1995, Tony Howell moved to Margaret River to pursue the perfect life for a surfing chef – morning waves and evening kitchen shifts.
Stove-side at Flutes Café when it was inducted into The Restaurant Hall of Fame, Tony joined Cape Lodge in 1999 and has been at the helm of its award-winning kitchen ever-since.
In 2005, Cape Lodge appeared in Conde Nast Travellers Gold List under its Best for Food Category, an accolade it has maintained since.
Not one to shy away from the cameras, Tony has appeared on numerous television cooking shows and was featured in the 2011 series of Master Chef Australia.
In recognition of his contribution to the promotion of Margaret River as one of the World’s best food and culinary wine regions, Tony has been invited by Tourism Australia to become a part of the “Friends of Australia” program, promoting Australia as a vibrant culinary destination inspiring gourmet travelers to Australia’s shores.
