Located in the new arts district of Akaretler in Istanbul, multidisciplinary architectural and brand developement agency, GeoID, were responsible for the recent re-design of the city’s W Hotel.Set in a restored 19th-century rowhouse in the Akaretler district, this chic hotel is a 6-minute walk from Dolmabahçe Palace and 7.9 km from Hagia Sophia Museum.
The original design of the hotel was inspired by Ottoman culture, and in the renovations GeoID decided to perpetuate this concept throughout. Eevery single detail used is a modern interpretation of the eclectic style associated with this rich historical period.
GeoID, in collaboration with legendary French lighting designer Thierry Dreyfus, created a striking and unique lighting installation to illuminate the tunnel at the entrance of the hotel, the design of which emulates a jewelry box. This tunnel adds an astonishing lightness and coolness that suits the image of W Hotel’s design-led lifestyle hotel.
Blending contemporary design with traditional Turkish details, stylish rooms offer flat-screen TVs, Bose radios, iPod docks and WiFi. Some rooms feature private terraces, gardens or cabanas. Suites add sitting areas, and some offer kitchenettes and/or whirlpool baths. There’s also a suite with a Turkish bath and skylights.
There’s a lounge/bar that features DJs and modern cuisine. Other amenities include an exercise room, a spa and 4 meeting rooms.
