Reimagining the landscape of luxury hospitality, Janu draws inspiration from its esteemed sister brand, Aman, while carving its own distinctive path with a visionary and innovative outlook. While harmonizing with Aman’s ethos, Janu exudes a spirited and playful design narrative, diverging from Aman’s renowned serene tranquility and Zen-like atmosphere. In essence, if Aman embodies sanctuary, Janu epitomizes connection. The launch of Janu Tokyo, which is poised to be the beating heart of a new urban community in the Japanese city, cements Aman Group’s status as the epitome of ultra-luxury hospitality and lifestyle experiences.
Situated in the heart of Azabudai Hills, a vibrant new neighborhood developed by Japan’s leading developer, Mori Building Co. Ltd., Janu Tokyo enriches the experiences of both its guests and the local community through meaningful interactions that celebrate genuine human connections. Serving as the flagship property, Janu Tokyo introduces 122 guest rooms and suites, eight dining and socializing venues, and a sprawling 4,000 sqm spa and wellness center housed in a landmark building designed by visionary architects Pelli Clarke & Partners and interiors by Jean Michel Gathy of Denniston.
“The opening of Janu Tokyo solidifies Aman Group’s status as the unrivalled emblem of ultra-luxury hospitality,” says Vlad Doronin, Chairman and CEO at Aman Group. “Aman has always epitomised luxury hospitality, with devoted guests at its heart, who repeatedly journey through our constellation of hotels and resorts. Now, as we introduce Janu Tokyo, we are heralding a new era. The strategic decision to launch Janu reflects our commitment to evolving alongside the desires of today’s dynamic travellers, particularly the offspring of Aman loyalists, the rising Amanjunkies, who seek uplifting experiences and authentic human connections. Janu Tokyo promises to be the epicentre of this transformative movement, welcoming a new cohort of guests.”
Janu Tokyoʼs commitment to enhancing wellbeing finds its genesis at the resort’s multi-disciplinary spa and wellness centre which spans 4 floors. Crafted to promote social well-being and cater to both active and passive pursuits, it boasts one of Tokyo’s largest gyms covering 340 sqm. This gym is accompanied by five movement studios offering group exercises such as spinning, yoga, golf simulation, and boxing. The hydrotherapy and thermal area is expansive, featuring a 25-meter indoor lap pool and a heated lounge pool for relaxation. Daily, a variety of eight to twelve group classes are offered, ranging from mindful practices like yoga and breathwork to adventurous sessions like Outrace and Skill X fitness, leveraging state-of-the-art equipment — the first of its kind in a Tokyo hotel.
For those in search of a more mindful approach to well-being, the wellness center also showcases two signature Spa Houses, catering to up to four guests exclusively. Additionally, it houses a consultation room, hair and nail salon, and seven private treatment rooms offering a range of Janu therapies. Beyond hotel guests, a limited number of Wellness Collective memberships are available, inviting the local community to explore the concept of social wellness.
Janu Tokyo features two Aman Essentials boutiques — the first standalone outlets beyond an Aman resort — accessible to both hotel guests and visitors of Azabudai Hills from the street level. While one boutique highlights the broader lifestyle Aman Essentials collection, the other is solely dedicated to beauty and wellness products.
Enriching the Janu Tokyo experience further are eight distinctive venues for dining and socializing, blending European and Asian culinary influences in a modern context. With its bold and vibrant design narrative and innovative cuisine, Janu Tokyo offers a dining journey that tantalizes the senses.
Janu Mercato elevates the lively dining ambiance with its trio of Italian open kitchen stations – one dedicated to crafting homemade pasta, another to showcasing fresh fish and seafood, and a third to presenting an assortment of European charcuterie and cheeses. Adjacent to this, Janu Patisserie invites guests into a lavish marble-clad space to indulge in the artistry of Parisian pastry making.
Iigura reimagines the traditional Edomae sushi experience, offering guests the choice between à la carte selections or an omakase dining journey. Meanwhile, Sumi introduces a modern twist to sumibiyaki, providing an intimate omakase dinner experience with seating for only 13 guests gathered around a grill, where the finest seasonal ingredients are charcoal-grilled to perfection, complemented by premium wine and sake.
Janu Grill features a captivating show kitchen, two wine cellars, and two private dining rooms, while Hu Jing delights diners with renowned Cantonese specialties including Peking duck and Wagyu fillet, alongside a fully vegan menu. Additionally, four private dining rooms accommodate up to ten guests each. The Janu Lounge and Garden Terrace offer a tranquil setting for afternoon tea with picturesque views of Tokyo Tower, while the Janu Bar showcases the city’s sensory language through expertly crafted cocktails inspired by various districts, curated by the renowned mixologist Shuzo Nagumo.
Spread across eight floors, Janu Tokyo’s rooms and suites redefine contemporary elegance, ranging from 55 sqm to 519 sqm in size. Crafted with meticulous attention to detail, these spaces exude a blend of Japanese minimalism and symmetry, fostering a sense of spaciousness and harmony amidst the bustling city atmosphere. Delicate European accents infuse an air of opulence and grandeur. Most rooms feature private balconies with captivating views of the city skyline, while Corner and Tower View Suites boast dual-aspect perspectives through expansive windows, providing a panoramic vista of the surroundings. Catering to the needs of groups and families, an array of connecting rooms are available, each equipped with large bathrooms featuring double vanities, rain showers, and bespoke soaking tubs. Sliding partition walls separate these luxurious amenities from the inviting living areas and spacious walk-in wardrobes.
Offering the pinnacle of luxury, the Janu Suite stands as the hotel’s largest individual accommodation, spanning 284 sqm of residential living space. Its two expansive balconies offer breathtaking views of Tokyo Tower and Azabudai Hills. Inside, guests are greeted by modern amenities including a fully-equipped kitchen and bar counter, a dining area accommodating six, a separate study-cum-library, and a generously-sized lounge, providing the comforts of a home away from home. When combined with its three adjoining rooms, the Janu Suite reaches a total size of 519 sqm, solidifying its status as one of the largest suites in Tokyo.
Beyond its unparalleled amenities, Janu Tokyo takes its esteemed place as the only hotel within Azabudai Hills, an inspiring urban enclave blending nature, culture, and art. Serving as a cornerstone of the community, the hotel’s symbiotic relationship with its surroundings enriches the lives of both guests and visitors through collaborative events and experiences with local artisans and institutions.
As the inaugural property in a planned series of 12, Janu Tokyo marks a dynamic new chapter in luxury hospitality, seamlessly merging innovation with tradition, inviting guests to embark on a transformative journey of exploration, connection, and rejuvenation.
