Open as of mid December 2023, the venerated Mandarin Oriental group is excited to present its third establishment in Switzerland, marking the arrival of its renowned hospitality to Zurich, the country’s largest city.
Situated on the renowned Paradeplatz, the Mandarin Oriental Savoy, Zurich stands as an iconic landmark hotel just moments away from the prestigious Bahnhofstrasse with its upscale fashion boutiques, the historic old town, and a charming promenade leading to Lake Zurich.
The history of Mandarin Oriental Savoy, Zurich traces back to Christmas Eve in 1838, when Johannes Baur, a young baker from Vorarlberg in Austria, founded the city’s inaugural grand hotel, the Hotel Baur. Exactly 185 years later, on the days preceding Christmas, this historic icon is rejuvenated, reopening its doors to global travelers and the local community after an extensive renovation.
Esteemed Paris-based interior designer Tristan Auer was the mastermind behind the reimagination of Mandarin Oriental Savoy, Zurich, seamlessly blending historical elements with contemporary style. The hotel’s guest rooms and suites, designed for both aesthetics and functionality, provide intimate havens of relaxation and comfort inspired by the city’s colors and Zurich’s modern art scene. Many of the 44 rooms and 36 suites feature spacious terraces and private rooftops, complemented by meticulously crafted living spaces.
Offering four distinctive restaurant and bar experiences, Mandarin Oriental Savoy, Zurich invites guests on a culinary journey featuring a variety of international flavors overseen by Executive Chef Benjamin Halat. At the heart of the hotel is the glamorous Savoy Brasserie & Bar, serving French-inspired all-day dining, Swiss classics, and signature cocktails. Meanwhile, ORSINI, an intimate and sophisticated fine-dining Italian restaurant conceived by award-winning Consultant Chef Antonio Guida, provides an exquisite culinary experience rooted in authentic flavors.
With its central city location and over 700 sqm of meeting and events space, Mandarin Oriental Savoy, Zurich is an ideal destination for special occasions such as weddings, parties, celebrations, and corporate functions. The hotel features ten fully equipped venues, including a protected historic guild hall and a beautifully preserved grand ballroom.
Since its opening over a century ago, the hotel has welcomed many famous guests. In 1845, the illustrious pianist and composer Franz Liszt resided in the Hotel Baur during the Beethoven Festival, while the 19th-century British literary giant Charles Dickens, renowned for works like “A Christmas Carol,” also stayed at the hotel with his family.
To celebrate its opening, Mandarin Oriental Savoy, Zurich presents an enticing “Be the First to Stay” package, offering guests exclusive benefits such as daily breakfast, dining credit, and more.
