Renaissance Hotels, one of Marriott Bonvoy’s 30 exceptional brands, invites travellers to discover a new side of the chic French city with the newly opened Renaissance Bordeaux Hotel. The 149-guestroom hotel boasts a rooftop terrace and pool, providing 360-degree views across the harbour and a unique perspective of the enchanting city.
Following its transformation, the building uniquely embodies the sense of change and regeneration the neighbourhood is famed for. Entwined into the location’s industrial heritage, with a striking tower structure, the building stands tall across the harbour and was once part of a 19th-century oil factory. Perfectly positioned to explore the city’s copious offerings, the hotel is set in The Wet Docks Quarter, packed with lively bars, trend-setting restaurants, and renowned museums, including the mesmerising Cité du Vin, a building shaped to mimic the movement of a wine glass. Renaissance Hotels’ Navigators, the brand’s neighbourhood ambassadors, are on hand to provide travellers with tips on the area’s best-hidden gems.
Embracing the unexpected and a sense of adventure, the hotel’s theatrical interior design was conceptualised by curator and designer Michael Malapert. The clever juxtaposition of the building’s historic past, with the introduction of chic modern furnishings, encourage guests to embrace the seamless blend of old and new. Malapert utilised the natural light that pours in from the oversized windows, and the décor includes plush velvet headboards, natural wood finishings and warm brass lighting, resulting in a cosy and inviting atmosphere. Each guestroom features works of art specially commissioned for the hotel, ensuring that each one has its own unique identity, and are complete with stunning views of either the harbour, city or Garonne River.
Set on the ninth floor, the rooftop boasts a pool, bar, and restaurant, with panoramic views providing a new perspective on the city. Guests can cool off from the city heat with a swim in the 10-metre pool, admiring the city’s views such as the Garonne River and the famous Chaban Delmas bridge. Gina, the all-day restaurant and bar, provides classic Italian fare, for travellers and local Bordelais alike, including a unique mozzarella menu, delicious antipasti platters and homemade pizzas and ice cream. Celebrating the city’s vibrant culture through a dynamic cocktail menu, this summer, guests are invited to try the hotel’s unique spin on a “Summer Vibes” Cosmopolitan, combining Fair Vodka, Lillet Rouge, Expresso Alchimiste and Jus de Raisin, creating a delicious Bordelais twist on the classic, perfect for rooftop sipping. Whilst on the ground floor, Gina Caffè offers a large terrace, along the edge of a garden oasis where guests can while away the day with a coffee.
