Rosewood Baha Mar in Nassau, The Bahamas, will reopen on 4 March 2021 with a new restaurant led by globally renowned Chef Daniel Boulud. Café Boulud The Bahamas will offer the glamour of traditional French cuisine combined with the warm hospitality of a neighborhood café, in an elegant Bahamian setting. The new restaurant joins Rosewood Baha Mar’s other popular dining offerings, including Mexican influenced Costa, relaxed beach-side restaurant Tingum, and glamorous Manor Bar.
Café Boulud – with sister restaurants in New York, Palm Beach, Toronto and The Berkshires – offers food traditionally inspired by Boulud’s four culinary muses. La Tradition highlights elevated French classics, La Saison emphasises seasonal and local produce, Le Mer offers seafood specialities, while Le Voyage explores various world cuisines through French interpretations. To create the unique menu at Rosewood Baha Mar, Chef Daniel will be visiting the resort to meet with local producers, fishermen and suppliers to ensure the menu reflects the destination and perfectly matches the seasonality of the Caribbean.
The menu at the new Bahamas restaurant will feature some of the classical French dishes synonymous with Chef Daniel, while showcasing local vegetables and seafood including rock lobster, salt fish, conch ceviche, red snapper and even cochon de lait. One of Chef Daniel’s signature dishes being featured is the Paupiette of Sea Bass, which will be given a local interpretation using the freshest island ingredients.
“Baha Mar is a world-class resort and a fantastic destination just two and a half hours from New York,” said Chef Daniel. Many of Cafe Boulud’s guests travel to The Bahamas and we felt partnering with Rosewood on this spectacular project was a perfect fit, with the many shared values among our brands and clientele.”
Luigi Romaniello, Managing Director of Rosewood Baha Mar added: “We are thrilled to welcome the globally renowned Chef Daniel Boulud and his restaurant Café Boulud to The Bahamas. The brand shares true synergy with our own and will offer a unique and refined setting for our guests to experience creative French cooking, complemented with quintessential Bahamian ingredients.”
Set on the pristine white sands of Nassau’s Cable Beach, Rosewood Baha Mar offers the ultimate destination for a sophisticated Caribbean getaway. The refined beach resort offers a range of accommodations including 230 guestrooms, suites and oceanside villas that epitomise Caribbean glamour. With a style evocative of a modern Bahamian estate, the interiors at Rosewood Baha Mar are infused with the carefree spirit of seaside living, elegantly accessorised with Bahamian art and décor.
Café Boulud The Bahamas is in good company among the other exclusive culinary offerings at Rosewood Baha Mar. Costa, which showcases coastal cuisine with a Latin American twist and Tingum on the Sand, a tropical hideaway with a mix of surf, sand and seafood. The hotel also features Manor Bar, serving classic handcrafted cocktails as well as The Library serving Champagne, wine, afternoon tea and sweet and savoury delights.
CREATING A COVID SECURE HOLIDAY
With testing of vital importance to travel in 2021, Rosewood Baha Mar has also launched a dedicated testing centre right on property, allowing guests to receive complimentary COVID-19 Antigen and when required, RT-PCR testing. The hotel’s testing initiative is a hassle-free option for the antigen tests required after five days from arrival in The Bahamas and for those who require a negative test in advance of their return home. The results are returned within 30 minutes and the on-site facility means guests do not need to leave the hotel, allowing the holiday to remain as relaxing as possible.
To safely vacation in The Islands of The Bahamas and at Rosewood Baha Mar, travelers are required to obtain a COVID-19 RT PCR test five days prior to arrival and take a COVID-19 Rapid Antigen Test on day five of the visit. Guests will also need to apply for a Bahamas Health Travel Visa, complete a daily online health questionnaire for symptom tracking and always wear a face covering in public places. At Rosewood Baha Mar, these tests take place at the hotel itself, at no cost to the guests. As part of the Travel Health Visa application, travelers will be required to opt-in to COVID-19 health insurance that covers them for the duration of their stay in The Bahamas. The cost of insurance is included in the Travel Health Visa application fee.
As well as developing a new restaurant, the hotel has been working diligently during its closure to deliver ‘The New Exceptional.’ This programme ensures staff are trained to the highest level, aligned with the new health landscape and with expert safety precautions at the forefront, while maintaining the impeccable and effortless service standards guests expect from the property. In addition, and in line with Rosewood Hotels & Resorts’ new Commitment to Care programme, Rosewood Baha Mar has introduced heightened hygiene protocols, further to the thorough cleaning policies already practiced. The new programme is in compliance with partners Ecolab and Diversey, and created with guidance by international health experts, including the World Health Organization (WHO).”
