Surprises were in store when it was revealed that this year’s ultimate accolade from the Good Food Guide, the Three Hats award, was reserved for just two restaurants: Attica, the internationally renowned restaurant in Ripponlea from and restaurant Brae.
In fact it was probably Dan Hunter who became the overall biggest success of this years awards, claiming the most individual prizes for his highly acclaimed restaurant Brae. As well as his Three Hats, he also earned the Santa Vittoria Regional Restaurant of the Year award, as well as being named Citi Chef of the Year.
Unfortunately, some disappointing surprises were also announced with the news that both the Flower Drum and Vue de Monde restaurants in Melbourne lost a Hat, bringing them both down to just two Hats for 2016.
