Picture paradise in your mind’s eye – is it the joy of spending undisturbed quality time with loved ones, the magic of being entertained amidst sumptuous surroundings, or the allure of unwinding in guaranteed privacy that epitomises your idyllic place or state? On Ahpo, you’re spared the burden of choice. With refined interiors that foster a duality of intimacy and conviviality, this grand vessel prevails with its intelligent design and meticulous attention to detail.
A masterpiece of maritime engineering complete with all the bells and whistles, Lürssen’s Ahpo is the brainchild of famed naval design studio Nuvolari Lenard. The realisation of a simple objective: pure perfection, Apho makes a statement with her timeless, elegant bow and graceful superstructure sweeping aft. The initial directive for the interior was to interweave all facets of nature, achieving a harmonious equilibrium that steered toward richness rather than ostentation. Upon stepping onboard, the achievement of this goal is abundantly clear: guests are welcomed into an expansive 205 square-metre wellness area on the lower deck, where an illuminated bamboo grove veiled behind frosted glass forms a stunning backdrop to a stylish bar and a sumptuous massage room. Just next door, a burst of mosaic tiles imbues life into the hammam, day head, Jacuzzi and plunge pool, creating a colourful contrast to the Zen-like ambience. Further ahead, a lavish twelve seater cinema awaits, along with an unexpected spectacle: a glass walkway through the heart of the engine room, offering guests a privileged bird’s eye view of the magnificent engines and mechanical spaces below.
Moving upstairs, Ahpo’s main deck unfolds to reveal a conference room anchored by a showpiece that speaks volumes — a bespoke table adorned with an antique map of Jamaica intricately etched in bronze and encircled by deep blue resin, bathed in the cerulean glow of a striking crystal chandelier. Behind a set of sliding doors, this sophisticated narrative continues in the suave main salon, where a self-playing Steinway piano fills the air with mesmerising melodies. To complete this deck, a final set of doors unveils the formal dining area, enveloped in sleek navy, red and white hues. These three spaces, albeit distinctly delineated, remain seamlessly interconnected, allowing both business and leisure to coexist on one floor, further echoing Ahpo’s carefully considered design.
Peppered throughout Apho’s interior, a selection of bespoke furnishings and works of art add an extra dash of panache. Among all these exquisite creations, there is one unmistakable pièce de résistance: a majestic spiral staircase that links all the guest levels. Serving as a symbolic pathway, the grandiose stairway portrays the ascent of an olive tree towards the heavens, cradled by cranes. Dangling from the ceiling and flowing through its centre, a remarkable elliptical sculpture hangs in intricate beauty, caressed by delicate falling feathers meticulously handcrafted from crystal. On each deck, the accentuating marble changes colour to suit the setting, acting as a subtle map composed of Blue Onyx, Green J’adore and Grey Lilac. As for the floor, it remains steadfast in its Calacatta Borghini cloak, accompanied by White Onyx petals and bordered by a beguiling bronze balustrade.
Venturing onto the owner’s deck, a distinct shift from the formality of the lower deck becomes evident. The charismatic salon boasts a contemporary and convivial ambience, where a dazzling interpretation of the universe graces the carpet, and an arresting lattice wood motif unfolds across the back wall. The aft deck flaunts a bespoke dining table with sixteen seats, a proud centrepiece within a winter garden that possesses the flexibility to embrace or shield from the elements, courtesy of its intricate system of sliding and folding glass doors.
On the upper deck, an oasis of leisure beckons. Home to an eight-metre long swimming pool with a counter-current system for the avid swimmer, a standalone jacuzzi, a variety of seating and a large bar, this relaxing space is perfect for long, lazy afternoons spent with family and friends. Also on this level is a sizeable gym outfitted with an array of state-of-the-art machines and equipment, all framed by panoramic sea vistas.
On the bridge deck, an unencumbered aft space offers endless possibilities for downtime. Drenched in sunlight yet protected with removable fabric shades, this versatile area can be appointed with portable furniture or left empty, serving as the idyllic sunrise yoga platform or starlit dance floor. With Apho, it’s undeniable: the perfect day in paradise stands ready at one’s fingertips. This level also hosts another rare yacht feature: the location of the bridge. Although uncommon to be at such an elevated position, this gifts the crew unparalleled views of their surroundings, ideal for the deft manoeuvring of this 115-metre-long, eighteen-metre-wide vessel. Although exhibiting an aesthetic that leans more towards a guest area than a conventional crew zone, accentuated by opulent woods and sumptuous leathers, it commands a sleek and high-tech presence. This unique placement also facilitates the arrangement of the ship’s office and captain’s quarters together while remaining separated from the guest areas — and gives way to one of Ahpo’s most distinctive and pioneering highlights: the duplex owner’s suite on the
levels below.
A dwelling fit for a king, the owner’s apartment spans a generous 245 square metres on the owner’s deck, plus an additional 95-square metre salon on the upper deck, seamlessly connected by a private staircase. The master cabin strikes an impeccable balance between spaciousness and intimacy, cocooning its occupants from the outside world. The adjoining exclusive-use deck space is equally discreet — a semicircular sofa and a coffee table overlook recessed balconies on either side, nestled into a tranquil corner and sheltered by glass bulwarks that frame the endless sea. Within the suite, his-and-hers bathrooms and dressing rooms are adorned with intricate mosaic motifs and audacious marbles, creating an oasis of opulence for its occupants. The male bathroom and dressing room captivates with an interplay of Honey Onyx and Black Portoro marble, embellished by an artistic mosaic wall in the shower inspired by Klimt’s paintings. In contrast, the feminine counterpart presents a symphony of pink hues that reflect the room’s cherry tree theme, complete with picturesque blossoms and birds. Both sanctuaries house two splendid freestanding tubs and bespoke crystal chandeliers, all celebrating the timeless allure of Venetian glass from the famed Murano island, including furnishings decorated with ornate cast-glass frames.
On the floor above, the expansive panoramic salon benefits from an impressive 180-degree vista overlooking the bow. Flanking each end of the room are two bespoke desks, effectively transforming the space into a secluded office if desired. Accessible from the salon are both the foredeck and helicopter pad, strategically positioned midway between the owner’s and upper decks. Moving towards the front, an elevated dining and lounging area offers a unique vantage point, delivering superior views and privacy compared to conventional layouts. This clever design also ensures that helicopter- arriving guests remain unaware of the interior space.
In addition to the master cabin, the vessel is home to a total of seven guest cabins. On the owner’s deck, a pair of family-designed cabins, each distinguished by its distinct colour scheme of pink and green, take inspiration from the graceful ginkgo leaves. These two suites also feature roll-top baths akin to those in the master bathroom. The rest of the guest quarters, all situated on the main deck, are furnished with a similar level of luxury and enjoy breathtaking views from the iconic semi-circle windows.
Championing the owner’s request for spacious and well-conceived crew areas, Ahpo doesn’t disappoint when it comes to catering for those working onboard. Designed with maximum privacy for all 37 crew, the shared staff space includes a large mess, a dedicated lounge and a private gym. The vessel even houses a hospital room on the lower deck.
Beyond the extravagant amenities, Ahpo also prioritises efficiency and environmental responsibility. The engine room showcases the prowess of twin MTU 20V 4000 M73 engines, propelling the yacht to a top speed of eighteen knots and a remarkable range of 7,000 nautical miles at twelve knots. In an effort to effectively reduce nitrogen oxide emissions and minimise noise and vibrations, the vessel proudly boasts an advanced exhaust after-treatment system. Moreover, every diesel-generating set is equipped with an additional heat exchanger, ingeniously repurposed to heat the pool, jacuzzi and service water systems. This practical setup curtails thermal energy loss and diminishes the reliance on electric heating systems throughout the boat.
From its nature-inspired design to its technological innovations, it’s clear that Ahpo is much more than just a yacht. This vessel is a testament to the fusion of visionary design, meticulous engineering and the boundless possibilities of luxury living on the water. Ultimately, paradise remains a matter of personal perspective; however, Ahpo comes remarkably close to transforming this notion into a tangible reality for all who step aboard.
