Served in the Sofitel London St James’ exquisite Rose Lounge until 3 March 2022, the tea is the first of an international series of Fashion Afternoon Teas designed to celebrate the launch, spanning Sofitel Hotels and Resorts in London, Dubai, Singapore and Seoul.
The playful and stylish menu will invite guests to delight their senses with sweet and savoury dishes created by Head Pastry Chef Jamie Warley, in a setting complemented by designs from Rousteing’s current collection. Guests will also be able to explore ‘Balmain Dreams 10: OR’ digitally via tablets within the lounge.
Known for his innovative take on afternoon tea, designed to connect guests with traditional French flavours, Jamie Warley’s Fashion Afternoon Tea moves away from the standard concept of finger sandwiches to feature savoury dishes like leek and potato soup, pulled pork gyoza with soya and ginger and truffle Gougères. The sweet courses have been inspired by Olivier Rousteing’s sketches from ‘Balmain Dreams 10: OR’ and include delicacies such as Citrus Choux Bun; Praline, chocolate and caramel Delice; and Cappuccino Macaron, served alongside freshly baked scones and a selection of exclusive teas and Champagne.
Marie-Paule Nowlis, General Manager of Sofitel London St James, welcomed the opportunity to celebrate the launch of ‘Balmain Dreams 10: OR’, by incorporating a sophisticated French flair into a time-honoured British tradition.
“Drawing inspiration from the designs of one of France’s premier luxury fashion houses, our new Fashion Afternoon Tea will pay tribute to French art de vivre, which lies at the very heart of the Sofitel brand,” said Marie-Paule.
The ‘Balmain Dreams 10:OR’ collaboration between Balmain and Z2 Comics showcases over a dozen illustrated short stories in graphic novel form, each inspired by Rousteing’s most celebrated collections from the last ten years. Just twenty-five years old when he was named Creative Director of Balmain in 2011, Rousteing has successfully infused an immediately recognizable style upon the historic fashion house. Relying on Balmain’s rich archives for inspiration, and fully utilizing the atelier’s impressive mastery of intricate, traditional couture techniques, he has managed to impose a singular silhouette and contemporary outlook that reflects the bold spirit of the house’s “Balmain Army.”
The Fashion Afternoon Tea will be served from Thursday to Monday in the Rose Lounge, 12pm to 4pm, from 3rd Feb to 3rd Mar 2022 at £55 per person or £65 per person including a glass of Champagne. To book, please visit The Rose Lounge at Sofitel London St James.
