Founded in 2017 by coffee aficionado Maria Tindemans, Royal Paris offers a glimpse into a bygone era with its bespoke balancing coffee syphons. Typically used in the royal courts and at regal banquets during the 1800s, coffee syphons were the epitome of refinement, style and the ultimate statement of luxurious living. In fact, the syphons were such a success that they still make a bold impression to this day, with many companies trying to use the balancing style within their collections.
However, none have taken it to the imperial levels that Royal Paris has. Tindemans has gone one step further to recreate a coffee brewing masterpiece that rivals even the most sophisticated systems. With its unique design and outstanding end brew, the Royal Paris machines took roughly three years to develop, and each machine is hand-built over 50 hours – the closing system alone requires at least 5 hours of workmanship. Just eight of these magnificent machines are built a month, so this is a true artisan instrument and not just a quick-fix coffee pot.
For added opulence, Tindemans has teamed up with French artist Jean-Luc Rietort to design her latest Avant-Garde collection. Using detailing and craftsmanship more commonly found in fine jewellery, these beautiful machines are adorned with 24-carat gold, silver or copper finish over the custom-made Baccarat glass canisters. The Avant-Garde machine is perfect for coffee connoisseurs who appreciate the precision, care and expertise that goes into ideal coffee preparation.
Naturally, being bespoke, the machines can be customised according to your personal tastes. With a selection of obsidian, azurite or malachite bases and 24k gold, copper or silver finishes, the set can be engraved with your initials or family crest for that extra added luxury.
A complete one-off, the customised machines range from between £8,000 and £18,000 and come with a Baccarat crystal carafe and burner case, along with a matching custom-made coffee scoop.
Royal Paris syphons are a whole way of life. From the crafting of the machines to the artful brewing process, every aspect elevates simple everyday actions into something special. Unlike the coffee machines powered by electricity that most people are familiar with, coffee syphons work by combining heat, steam, pressure, and gravity to create every precious cup of coffee. After placing the grounds into the crystal carafe, hot water is poured into a separate boiler pot, and an automatic system brews the coffee at the perfect temperature.
The water is piped through the coffee grounds before being filtered into pure coffee, which is then poured through the adjoining tap and ready for you to enjoy.
As their mission statement goes, ‘Royal Paris coffee maker is more than a statement of extraordinary taste, it is a commitment to making every moment of your life extraordinary and celebrating with those you love’. And this is precisely what Tindemans has achieved.
By uniting the best minds and hands of glassmakers, goldsmiths, artists and engineers, Royal Paris coffee machines create an immersive ceremony that brings the whole family or friends together and into the moment.
“It is about honouring tradition and creating a new legacy. Royal Paris invites you to create your moments of imperial pleasure.”
A marvel to watch, Royal Paris creates a whole stylistic experience out of coffee making. It transports you in time to classical European palaces, the Belle Époque, or even scenes from a glamorous roaring 20’s soirée while you sit back and sip on the full-flavoured, exquisite brew.
