Zuma has announced the grand opening of its debut French venue, Zuma Cannes, scheduled for 15 May 2024. The flagship restaurant is set within the historic Palm Beach at Pointe Croisette, which is reopening just in time for the Cannes Film Festival, and is expected to become a prime gathering spot for film stars and celebrities.
Zuma Cannes marks the first culinary venture to open its doors within the renowned Palm Beach Cannes, a site deeply entwined with Riviera history that has been splendidly renovated to its original grandeur. Opened in 1929, Palm Beach was renowned for its glamorous gatherings, chic cabaret performances, and a guest list featuring global A-listers.
In keeping with Zuma’s ethos, the new venue reflects a timeless, naturally beautiful aesthetic using stone and wood, capturing the essence of its locales worldwide. Zuma Cannes integrates local architectural styles with a spacious terrace featuring decorative lattice work that seamlessly merges indoor and outdoor spaces, inspired by the Japanese concept of ‘Shakkei’ or ‘borrowed landscape.’ Guests enter the restaurant through a tunnel-like passage that whisks them away to a new world, far away from the mundanity of everyday life, enhancing the immersive experience of the venue.
Inside, the restaurant offers a substantial private dining area and various event spaces to accommodate different groups. The restaurant’s expansive terrace with adjustable sails allows for open-air dining, offering stunning views over the Bay of Cannes, a quintessential symbol of French Riviera sophistication and charm.
Zuma Cannes operates exclusively for dinner, enhanced by live DJ performances that recreate the opulent ambiance of Palm Beach’s golden days. The restaurant operates all year, featuring a full dining menu and a sushi and robata counter, embodying Zuma’s modern izakaya experience on the Côte d’Azur throughout the seasons.
The menu at Zuma Cannes includes iconic dishes along with new favorites like sliced otoro with smoked tomato dashi and oscietra caviar, special toro maki, and Chilean seabass croquettes in ginger-chilli dressing. A unique creation, the beef tartare with sancho pepper, myoga, and black truffle, is prepared tableside, adding a dramatic flair to dining. The meal concludes splendidly with a dessert of exotic fruits pavlova with cherry blossom chantilly and mango sorbet, capturing the essence of a Riviera summer.
Zuma Co-Founder, Rainer Becker, said: “Palm Beach in Cannes was the obvious choice for us when choosing our first location in France, it echoes everything we stand for here at Zuma: excellence, quality, and a good time!’”
